Problem updating java
If you’re not sure whether you need Java, try uninstalling it anyway. If you can’t uninstall Java yet and still need it, we’ll give you some strategies for mitigating the security problems you face with Java installed.
If you need Java installed, there’s a good chance you only use it for desktop programs like Minecraft or the Android SDK.
Java is considered unsafe, but if you do update it it's somewhat safer than if you don't. So it's best to uninstall Java from Control Panel, and only reinstall it (latest version) from if it turns out you do need it.

Hi, I have a couple of problems in order to install the r Java (I am using ubuntu, on R 0.97).

Luckily, newer versions of Java clean up older versions properly.
